The EX-STRATA sculpture is part of the ‘Homo Ludens’ exhibition. The exhibition is hosted by Aqua Zoo in Leeuwarden (The Netherlands) and accessible from July 2009 till October 2010.

Homo Ludens! The translation from Latin to English explains ‘the playing human’. And let us be honest; is there anything more fun than playing?

The Homo Ludens project will inspire visitors of all ages to find out and play with the art and technology behind the sculptures.

The project is sort of an experiment with interactive art-objects. It is usually not permitted to touch and feel art-objects but this is completely the other way around; touching, playing, climbing, exploring and developing. You will learn that art is not boring but cool! A mixture of science, technology and sustainability.

The art-objects in this exhibition are designed by artists that are famous all over the world.
Watch the www.homoludens2009.nl website for more information (Dutch only).

The EX-STRATA sculpture is designed by the Swiss artist Ralf Gschwend. The ‘Technologie Centrum Noord Nederland’ (TCNN) asked BrainCenter to develop and build the EX-STRATA. For the development of this interactive sculpture BrainCenter worked together with students of the ‘Noordelijke Hoogeschool Leeuwarden’.
